Nicola Iervasi is the co-founder and Artistic Director of Mare Nostrum Elements and always enjoyed exploring the point of intersection between the performing arts.
Originally from Italy he moved to New York in 1998 as a scholarship student at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance. Nicola danced with Martha Graham Dance Ensemble, Sokolow Now/Anna Sokolow Contemporary Dance Company, Dzul Dance and Max Luna III. Acting credits include Missionaries by Mario Fratti and Monella (aka frivolous Lola) by Tinto Brass. For the theater he choreographed Dancing at Lughnasa and The Time of the Cuckoo; other choreographic credits include collaborations with the Music Department of NYU, I Giullari di Piazza and the Roccella Jazz Festival (Italy). Since 2002 Nicola has been teaching MNE’s signature method The Wave Within for children and adults throughout the US and Italy.
As an administrator Nicola has been problem solving and supervising MNE’s operations since 2009 based on his administrative experiences at Martha Graham Center, Elisa Monte Dance and Peridance Capezio Center.
