Hailing from Connecticut in 2003, Janelle has come to make her mark in the music industry of New York City. As a graduate of New York University in 2007, Janelle has focused her attention to the arts. Not only has she begun to choreograph for many NYC artists and such groups as MAD dance or Sequence Entertainment, she is a dancer herself, having performed and trained in numerous PMT Seasonal Showcases, NYU Showcases, Alvin Ailey and many other venues in NYC. Dancing, however, is not her only passion. Janelle has studied the music industry. She has done work with Sony Music, Universal Music Group, J records, New York Music Awards, MTV and BMI. Currently, Janelle is an adjunct professor at NYU teaching the fundamentals of hip hop, Dance Facilitator at El Puente’s Beacon program, Hip Hop / Step Instructor at Williamsburg Collegiate Charter School, Step Facilitator at MS 50, Company Director and Lyrical team coach at April’s Dancing Feet, and dance facilitator at El Puente Academy for Peace and Justice.
Janelle is a recipient of the 2017 Spaceworks and El Puente CADRE Dance Lit Residency, a community-based residency program for dancemakers to build deeper connections with communities where they create work. Through her Body Poetry classes and public showing, Janelle and her students will explore the relationships between literature, language, and dance.
