Discipline: Drawing & Painting

Based In: Brooklyn

Website: Arjan Zazueta

In my mixed-media drawings and paintings, I pull from popular culture, childhood, and my everyday experience to consider issues surrounding race, class, and gender. I am primarily interested in intimacy and human behavior. The ways we connect, the ways we are disconnected, the ways we are included, and the ways we are excluded.

At the core, I am interested in art as a language that is continually shifting, and dependent on the viewer to make meaning. My subject matter, form, materials, and color reflect my continuing interest in questioning assumed values in art, and society.
